This Miu Miu Large Woven Leather Tote bag just underwhelms me. It is lacking creativity and lacking a new touch. It is not that Bottega Veneta should be the only brand that weaves leather or that Hermes should be the only brand that places a buckle at the top of their bags, but they just do it better than this bag. I kept expecting more from Miu Miu, as time and time again it surpassed what I saw from Prada.

The long awaited Chanel Coco Cocoon ads featuring the British unconventional songbird Lily Allen have finally surfaced. And I’m not so impressed.

Because the bags look so cheap and Lily looks so comme d’habitude ( Photoshop-slimmer), it will take some time to adjust to the new Chanel Cocoon, even if they went with Lily’s friendly, smiling face! I wrote about the Gucci Sukey Large Tote a few months ago, and when I saw it available for pre-order in a new trim color on Saks.com today, I thought it might be worth revisiting.

Since then, the US (and much of the world) economy has imploded, millions are out of jobs, and many have seen their retirements shrink to nearly nothing.

So…why in the world do I still like this bag? Because I do. A lot. I still have a small place in my heart for Gucci’s signature fabric,even though I hate logo bags in general, and have for quite some time, . And I still think this bag is well-designed, despite the logos. The lines are simple, it’s functional, but it still has a bit of subtle chicness to it. Plus it’s a bag from a major designer for under a grand. Not too bad, even if it’s not really a recession must-have.
